In January 2023, the national consumer price index rose by 2.1% year-on-year. Among them, urban areas rose by 2.1% and rural areas rose by 2.1%; Food prices increased by 6.2%, while non food prices increased by 1.2%; Consumer goods prices increased by 2.8%, and service prices increased by 1.0%.

1、 Year on year changes in prices of various goods and services

In January, the prices of food, tobacco, and alcohol increased by 4.7% year-on-year, affecting the CPI (Consumer Price Index) by about 1.33 percentage points. In the food industry, the price of fresh fruits increased by 13.1%, affecting the CPI by about 0.27 percentage points; The price of eggs has increased by 8.4%, affecting the CPI by about 0.06 percentage points; Fresh vegetable prices rose by 6.7%, affecting CPI by about 0.16 percentage points; The price of livestock and meat increased by 6.6%, affecting the CPI by about 0.21 percentage points. Among them, the price of pork increased by 11.8%, affecting the CPI by about 0.16 percentage points; The price of aquatic products increased by 4.8%, affecting the CPI by about 0.09 percentage points; The increase in grain prices by 2.7% has affected the CPI by about 0.05 percentage points.

The prices of the other seven major categories increased six times and decreased one time year-on-year. Among them, the prices of other supplies and services, education, culture and entertainment, and transportation and communication increased by 3.1%, 2.4%, and 2.0% respectively, while the prices of daily necessities and services, healthcare, and clothing increased by 1.6%, 0.8%, and 0.5% respectively; Residential prices have decreased by 0.1%.

 

 

  

2、 Changes in prices of various goods and services on a month on month basis

In January, the prices of food, tobacco, and alcohol increased by 2.0% month on month, affecting the CPI by about 0.57 percentage points. In the food industry, the price of fresh vegetables increased by 19.6%, affecting the CPI by about 0.41 percentage points; The price of fresh fruits increased by 9.2%, affecting the CPI by about 0.19 percentage points; The price of aquatic products has risen by 5.5%, affecting the CPI by about 0.10 percentage points; The price of livestock and meat decreased by 5.3%, affecting CPI by about 0.19 percentage points. Among them, the price of pork decreased by 10.8%, affecting CPI by about 0.18 percentage points; The price of eggs decreased by 2.1%, affecting the CPI by about 0.02 percentage points.

The prices of the other seven major categories have increased by four, remained stable by two, and decreased by one month on month. Among them, the prices of education, culture, entertainment, other supplies and services increased by 1.3% and 1.1% respectively, while the prices of healthcare, transportation and communication increased by 0.3% and 0.2% respectively; The prices of residential and daily necessities and services remain unchanged; Clothing prices have decreased by 0.5%.
